Dr. Marc Weiand considers his place of work not just a dental office, but also a “dental home” where patients are truly cared for like family members.

Founded by his father Dr. Ron Weiand, Weiand & Weiand has been helping Inland Northwest residents maintain healthy smiles for the past 30 years.

“We believe our first responsibility is providing kind, gentle and well-understood dentistry with the finest experience that our expert and empathetic team can deliver,” says Dr. Marc.

Dr. Marc grew up in Spokane, and while still in high school, he worked at his father’s dental practice cleaning rooms and assisting when needed. It was there that he learned first-hand about how to care for patients and what it means to be a respected dentist. Deciding to follow in his father’s footsteps, Dr. Marc enrolled at the University of Washington, continuing to work his way through school at a local dental office.

After graduating from the Creighton University School of Dentistry in 1997, Dr. Marc returned to Spokane to join his father in the family business. “I’m very fortunate to have such a great mentor,” he says, “not only from who I can learn the finest in dental treatment, but to be able to carry on the pride of providing the finest of care in a comfortable and nurturing environment.”

In today's rapidly changing environment, it's extremely important to Dr. Marc to be up to date on the latest dental technology and treatment techniques. His office is part of the “digital age”. Modern digital x-rays reduce the amount of radiation exposure patients receive and a “paperless office” means more accurate patient records and convenient emailing and texting of appointment reminders.

Dr. Marc also utilizes high-tech Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) technology to create customized fittings of crowns, bridges, fillings and other dental restorations. The technology also delivers advantages when it comes to office visits — traditional tooth restorations may take several days and multiple office visits, but with CAD/CAM, the procedure can be performed in a single-visit.

High-definition flat screen televisions in each operatory room help with individualized treatment planning. Patients get a dentist's eye view of their mouth to see exactly where treatment is indicated. “This gives the patient the chance to co-diagnose with me, what I would do in my own mouth and for my family,” explains Dr. Marc.

It's no secret that many people are so fearful of going to the dentist that they simply avoid the situation. But of course, dental problems don't go away just by ignoring them. The most important aspect of an office visit to Dr. Weiand and his staff is that patients are completely informed and feel comfortable with the treatment being provided. Dr. Marc has found that if patients are open about their anxieties, he can adapt treatment and relieve anxiety with calm, compassionate communication.

Dr. Marc has two daughters that always remind him why he enjoys working with children so much in his office.  With early care and preventative appointments, Dr. Marc hopes to never have to carry out any large treatment on his young patients as they grow up.  Dr. Marc looks forward to seeing his long time patients as well as new faces.
